Chapel Choir

In Michaelmas 2017, the School will launch two new choirs for the Chapel: one for girls and the other for boys aged 8-13. The Choirs will share the musical contributions for the Chapel Services e.g. termly Evensongs, Advent and Christmas Carol Services. In doing so, we aim to give our girls and boys the unique opportunity to prepare for the experience of an Oxbridge choir.

There are many other benefits in participating including:

Physical benefits:

  • Provides a great workout
  • Improves your posture
  • Can boost the immune system

Emotional benefits:

  • Lowers stress levels
  • Improves mental awareness
  • Releases endorphins to increase happiness

Social benefits:

  • Helps to widen your circle of friends
  • Boosts your confidence
  • Broadens your communication skills

It is proposed that auditions for participation will happen during the first week of October when all children in Years 3-6 will be invited to sing a short passage of something they have already sung at the Prep School with some simple musical tests to assess suitability for this kind of initiative.
Rehearsals will be Monday – Thursday 7.45-8.20am in the Prep School.

Please note that participation in these choirs will not impact upon the Prep Chamber Choir and membership of both is to be encouraged.

Places will be limited to 20 girls and 20 boys across the age range 8-13. In addition to the musical benefits associated with membership of the Chapel Choirs there will also be opportunities for tours, concerts and possibly recordings. Please contact the Chapel Choir staff below for further information:
