The Art Department offers a wide range of enrichment opportunities to students who are studying art and for those who would like to develop their creative side.
The Art club takes place on four nights a week and is specifically aimed at our GCSE, A level and IB students as they prepare for public examinations.
We host a 2nd year Art Club every Friday after school to which is open to all students. We regularly run Day trips to the London Galleries. In recent years we have been to Tate Modern, Tate Britain and The National Gallery with 2nd and 3rd year pupils.
The Art department also runs a House Watercolour Challenge in September each year. Six students from each House have two hours to complete a watercolour landscape from around the school grounds. These young artists compete to win the Watercolour Challenge cup. Prizes are awarded for the best painting by a junior, middle and senior student.
Each year at the end of June we have our annual Young Contemporaries Art Exhibition where we showcase the best work from across the year groups. Parents, students, governors and friends of Brentwood School are all invited along to help us celebrate.
Every Michaelmas half term, the Art department run a Residential trip for the exam students. We go to the Venice Art Biennale alternate years and recently we have also visited New York (2008, 2010), Madrid (2012) and Tokyo (2014).
