Mathematics lies at the very core of much of what we do. It is, perhaps not surprisingly, a popular subject at Brentwood School and we are proud of our academic record in this subject. The Mathematics Department host a range of activities to enrich and stretch our most able mathematicians as well as offering activities for those who need a little more support.
Junior Maths Club
This meets fortnightly (Fridays, week 1 in M14) and is open to all in the First to Third Year. Students take part in problem solving activities and in preparation for competitions which we enter regularly as a school. Great for stretching the mind and thinking beyond the confines of a curriculum.
Maths and Physics Society
This meets every Thursday in P3 and is open to all in the Sixth Form with a passion for these subjects. The Society seeks to deepen and broaden our students' understanding of Maths and Physics and is a good preparation for those seeking to study these subjects, or related disciplines, at University and beyond. Meets every Wednesday from 4-5pm and is open to all Sixth Form mathematicians (A Level and IB Diploma students). A great way to explore maths with cake provided!
Every Tuesday from 1.10pm in the Cunliffe Computer Room, there is a homework club open to all in the First-Third Year. The club is run by the Director of Teaching & Learning, Ms. Porovic and Sixth Form students and seeks to offer some extra support for those who may be struggling with some concepts in class.
