LAMDA at Brentwood
LAMDA (the London Academy for Music and the Dramatic Arts) lessons are one on one supervisions with LAMDA trained Theatre peripatetic teachers assessed up to Grade 8. There are also medals awarded to reward work of distinction. LAMDA examinations are recognised by all universities and offer a great deal to UCAS applications.
LAMDA lessons teach students confidence, develop creativity and improve close analysis of dramatic literature and verse. There are a wide range of a LAMDA examinations available and our LAMDA teachers are able to teach across the range. It may be that you would like your child to become a more confident public speaker or that he or she wants to refine their performance skills. Please head to https://www.lamda.org.uk/examinations/all-examinations for more information.
The strongest performers in our Fifth and Sixth Form have all progressed through to Gold Medals and/or distinctions at Grade 8 taking one-on-one tuition and their GCSE and A Level Drama and Theatre, results are A/A* aided by the extra work they do after school and at lunchtime.
We currently have three LAMDA teachers who offer lessons across the week. Lessons are taught at lunchtimes, after school and across the school day. LAMDA lessons that take place in the school day are at different times each week so students do not miss the same curriculum lesson twice and avoid clashes with other commitments. When your child has decided on what he or she would like to commit to, we can find a suitable slot each week for a LAMDA lesson to take place. Please note, we do not offer LAMDA for non-curriculum Drama students in the Third Year and above.
LAMDA has been of enormous benefit to many of our children for a huge number of reasons. The lessons improve confidence, develop elocution, rapidly enhance performance skills and refine literacy.
LAMDA teachers are Rachel Roche and Kirsten Moore, who teach on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and (potentially) Fridays, and Juliette Kelly-Fleming who teaches on Wednesdays. The lessons are 15 minutes long and are all one-on-one. Do please contact either teacher over the summer break for further information:
